Congratulations for grabbing Transmit, the best thing that's ever happened to MacOSェ FTP. We think you'll be quite happy to use it, and we at Panic are very proud of what we've created.
quick start
Double-click the Transmit icon, fill in all your connection information, hit the "Connect" button, and then use Transmit the same way you use the MacOS! Drag from one panel to the other to transfer. Drag items to Transmit's trash to delete files. Click on an item and wait to rename it. Drag to and from the Finder as you wish. Do a "Get Info" to learn more about a file. Etc.
Piece of cake, eh? The rest of the good stuff lies underneath the "File" menu and should be pretty self explanatory.
what's new
Many, many things have changed since version 1.0 of Transmit. Transmit 1.5 is faster, easier, and more powerful. We highly recommend that you read the release notes at http://www.panic.com/transmit/releasenotes.html to familiarize yourself with all that is new!
cool things
While the bulk of Transmit will be instantly familiar to every Mac user, there are a few "hidden" features for power-users that might be overlooked!
・ View by date is easy when you hold down "option" while clicking the "size" column. It'll turn into a "date" column, allowing you to view files by the date they were modified.
・ Reload the file list in a flash by holding down "option" while clicking the "parent" button.
・ Their Stuff Only If you prefer a clutter-free interface, choose "Show 'Their Stuff' Only" in the interface tab of the preferences. This will only show remote files, allowing you to use the finder to select and drag files.
・ Contextual menus are available when control-clicking an item! Don't forget about them, they're handy.
・ Passive mode is supported! You can turn it on in the "Firewalls" tab of Internet Config or in the "Advanced" tab of the Internet control panel under MacOS 8.5.
・ Dragging and dropping URL's onto Transmit's connection panel automatically fills out the necessary fields to make a quick connection. Of course, you can copy and paste URL's as well.
where's the manual?
A manual is available free for Transmit. You can download it at http://www.panic.com/transmit/download.html
purchasing transmit
Yes, you can purchase Transmit today: instantly, painlessly, and inexpensively! $24.95 is all it takes to own this state-of-the-art piece of code.
While we encourage you to use Transmit as much as you want as a demo, it is not freeware or shareware: it's a commercial program. Why, then, did we release the entire program for "free" as a demo? Yes, we are a bit nuts, but we also felt that using Transmit is the best way to understand how great it is ミ so, we figured what the heck ミ let 'em use it! And use it you will.
However (you saw this coming, didn't you?) after 15 days of using Transmit as a demo, we'll begin to remind you to purchase. You've probably heard the shpeil, so you know about how purchasing our first major MacOS release will encourage us to continue to develop top-quality software for the Macintosh and will make you the proud owner of a stunning piece of software.
You can purchase Transmit at http://www.panic.com/transmit/buy.html ミ and at $24.95, it's the biggest bargain in binary today.
